Direct Color Systems has developed and patented technologies and printers that can quickly print signage. As an added bonus, the signage not only looks professional, but can be easily made to comply with ADA guidelines, through their patented UV LED printing process. These flatbed inkjet printers can create signage with full-color images directly on various substrates, either flat or 3D. When using their Multisolve™ UV LED inks, no priming or pre-coating is needed, which quickens the printing process.

In fact, their Braille sign printers can print graphics and Braille dots on either first-surface or second-surface passes in only four minutes on acrylic material. Plus, InkMark™ UV Metal Matte-Finish substrates can be used to add a metallic-like finish to the sign for a professional look. The Direct Color printers Direct-To-Substrate functionality means that they can print directly onto wood, acrylic, PVC, aluminum, ABS, polycarbonate, glass, crystal, stainless steel, ceramic tile, electrical components, and more. A beautiful benefit that's worth mentioning is that it has a white ink option which means it can print onto even the darkest substrates, with a dazzling bright white color.
The Direct Color Systems signs can be used for both indoor and outdoor signage, including signs which require ADA compliance. The flexibility and versatility of the printing processes make the applications virtually unlimited in what can be done. A few of the many applications that these printers can be used for in creating unique designs include ADA compliant Braille signs, acrylic substrates printing for awards and plaques, wood signage printing, TEXTUR3D™ printing for stunning raised prints, UV LED ink printing for super clear text and vibrant full-color images, and aluminum signage.

Are These Signs Durable?

Yes, if they are properly coated with a clear overcoat ink option after printing. This will seal your images so it’s weatherproof. It also depends on what materials are used for the base sign. Plastics and metals are much more durable than other materials (ie. wood), so it’s important to assess how and where the signage will be used before using a Direct Color printing process.
